Understanding the Different Websites

There are many different websites associated with programming, and sometimes we call them by different names.  We know that this can be confusing, so see below for a list that might help... and click on the links for extra information!

ablle.pbworks.coma.k.a.

"The WELL/ABLLE Site" serves as the home base for students in the On Line Workforce education and lifelong Learning Program.  This website is technically called a wiki, and is hosted by a company called PBworks.

alison.com

"The ALISON Site" offers free online computer training classes. From very   To be accepted into the Distance Learning Program, you must log in and complete 3 courses.  See Accessing ALISON, ABC IT for directions.

gmail.com

Your "Gmail Account" or "Google Account" is the email account set up specifically for the Distance Learning Program (though you are welcome to use it for whatever else you like).  You will send and receive emails through this account.  In addition, when you set up your account, you will be invited to also join gchat, where you can instant message with tutors.  If you have a camera on your computer, you can even video chat!

pbs.org/literacy

This site is what we are calling "GED Connections" or sometimes, "The PBS Site" or "Literacy Link Site".  It is an educational resource website provided by the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) , featuring state-approved curriculum called GED Connections.  This website is where you will find all of your online assignments, and where you will complete all of your online quizzes. Follow the intructions for Accessing GED Connection, and make sure you connect with Teacher Allison Harris (steps 4,5, and 6) to get credit for all of your work.

http://dlreferrals.tiu11.org/

This site is facilitated by Pennsylvania Department of Education Distance Learning Project.  Pennsylvania’s Distance           Learning Project (DLP) provides basic, workplace, English, math and college readiness skills instruction to adults           focused on attaining self reliance, economic stability and family unity.  Services are delivered through instructional           activities in which students and instructors are separated by geography, time, or both.
